Nature Kids x Coastal Shred Academy
Summer Beginner Surf Program – 2026
Program Overview
This beginner surf program reflects what Coastal Shred Academy is built on! Keeping it safe, keeping it fun, and helping kids genuinely improve in the ocean.
Each session blends ocean safety education with hands-on coaching, teaching participants how to move confidently through the water, understand conditions, paddle efficiently, and pop up with control. With small group sizes, kids receive real feedback and structured progression while the energy stays high, supportive, and encouraging.
Whether it’s local kids growing up on the West Coast or visiting families wanting their children to experience surfing in Tofino, the goal is simple: create a positive week in the ocean where confidence builds naturally, friendships form, and the stoke stays high!

Skate Programs – Progression Sessions
Our skate programs are built on the same foundation as our surf coaching — keep it safe, keep it fun, and help kids genuinely improve.
After running successful skate progression sessions in Tofino for the past four years in partnership with Wickaninnish Community School and the District of Tofino, we’re proud to continue building strong youth skate culture through structured, positive coaching environments.
These sessions are designed to help young skaters grow confidently, meet new friends, and progress their skills in a supportive community setting.
Skate Program Overview
Running in Tofino and Ucluelet
Our skate sessions are built to create a positive, encouraging environment where young skaters can build skills, gain confidence, and connect with others in the community.
Led by trained instructors, each session focuses on proper technique, safe progression, and helping every participant improve at their own pace. Helmets are mandatory, safety pads are recommended, and supervision is always our top priority.
Skateboarding is more than just tricks. It builds resilience, creativity, independence, and community. These sessions create a space to challenge yourself, meet other skaters, and improve week after week in a supportive setting.
Beginner Group
Recommended ages: approximately 6–9 years
The Beginner group is open to brand-new skaters as well as those developing core fundamentals. Participants learn how to push comfortably, balance, steer, and stop safely.
As confidence builds, we introduce foundational skills like drop-ins, kick turns, basic ramp riding, and beginner flat-ground tricks. Sessions also include fun skate games that improve balance, coordination, and overall board control.
Goal: Build strong fundamentals, confidence, and a love for skateboarding in a fun, high-energy environment.
Intermediate Group
Recommended ages: approximately 8–12 years
The Intermediate group is for skaters who are comfortable riding independently and ready to refine technique and expand their trick selection.
Participants work on improving consistency, ramp flow, combinations, timing, and board control. Instructors provide individualized coaching to support progression while maintaining a safe and encouraging atmosphere.
Goal: Expand each skater’s bag of tricks, build style and flow, and push progression in a structured, supportive setting.
